Fortnite is a co-op sandbox survival game developed by the company ‘Epic Games’ and ‘People Can Fly’ Fortnite is set in contemporary Earth, where there is a sudden appearance of a wide storm causes the 98% of the world’s population to disappear, and zombie-like creatures rising to attack the remaining people on earth. ‘Epic Games’ says that Fortnite is a cross between ‘Minecraft’ and ‘Left 4 Dead’. The game was realised on multiple consoles such as PS4, XBOX1 and PC. On July 26th, 2017, it was announced that Fortnite had sold over 500,000 digital pre-order copies. On august 18, 2017, Epic confirmed that Fortnite has surpassed over 1 million players and the free to play battle royal mode obtained over 10 million players in two weeks.

The company known as Epic Games was once known as ‘Potomac computer systems’ from 1991 to 1992 and then went on to being known as ‘Epic MegaGames’ from 1992 to 1999. The company where founded by Tim Sweeney, after his first game ZZT (1991) the company became Epic MegaGames in early 1992 and brought on Mark Rein who is the company’s vice president to date. The moved out from Tim’s parents’ house in Potomac, Maryland to Cary, North Carolina in 1999, which the studio was known simply as Epic Games.
Epic Games developed Unreal Engine, a commercially available game engine which the used in games such as ‘Gears of War’ and ‘Infinity Blade’ series. In 2014 the engine they made was named the most successful video games engine” by Guinness world records.

Success of company: treyarch have managed to make over 15 games which have made the company millions of dollars and has kept them in the public eye for many years

Departmental structure:  the department structure is very chilled but they still have to do all the work set for them to do in a time limit, they also have a relaxed and inspirational vibe so they are able to come up with game ideas

Product reviews: from the reviews i have read they have praised the creators for creating a game that has grasped their attention and have made them want to play the game non-stop     
Success compared to other companies: this company have had a lot of success from all their games as they have built one of the most well known franchises 'call of duty', they have built a huge fan bass who will buy the game no matter what.    
Large audience / niche audience: call of duty has a huge audience that will buy the game even if it doesn't look very good, they have managed to find a very good niche where they are at the top of the food chain for modern war games.  
How the company makes money:  the company makes money from selling all the games they have made as fast as possible for the highest price to gain enough profit to start making another game.
